The EU-China CDM Policy Study is an integral component of the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project, consisting of two main research areas: “Assessment of the Impact of CDM on China’s Sustainable Development” and “Improvement of CDM Policies”. The policy-oriented empirical research aims to achieve a holistic and comprehensive understanding of the current as well as the future development of CDM in China. The outputs of the research will provide policy recommendations for CDM policy-makers in Europe and China.
Research areas highlighted:
The Impact Assessment of CDM on China’s Sustainable Development is based on 14 case studies covering different CDM projects types. The study assesses the impact of the CDM using quantitative as well as qualitative methodologies, including social, economic and environmental aspects. The study seeks to highlight opportunities to enhance the contribution of the CDM to the sustainable development in China.
The study on The Improvement of CDM Policy focuses on five aspects, including the assessment of current CDM policies; challenges and opportunities for EU Companies in China; improvement of CDM CER revenue sharing policy; evaluation of priority areas for CDM projects and guidance on the implementation of present CDM projects administrative measures.
The Technology Transfer report will provide CDM policy makers in both the EU and China and other interested parties, with an overview of technology transfer through CDM projects in China and also provide policy recommendations on how technology transfer can be encouraged and supported.
The report on the Pre-2012 CDM Market in China provides a review of both quantitative and qualitative perspectives on the current development of the CDM market in China, in the context of both Chinese and EU Climate Policy. The report seeks to contribute to an improved understanding of the carbon market in China.
