Drug Uses
Pravachol is used for reducing high lipid levels and high cholesterol, with diet and exercise. It is also used to prevent certain heart problems, including slowing down the progression of hardening of the arteries in patients with heart disease. It can also be used to treat other conditions as directed by your physician.
How Taken
Use Pravachol as determined by your doctor. Take Pravachol with or without a meal. It is recommended to use Pravachol at the same time daily. Use Pravachol 1 hour before or 4 hours after taking bile-acid reducing resins (e.g., cholestyramine, colestipol).
Additional Information
Pravachol may cause dizziness or blurred vision. These effects can worsen if Pravachol is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Use Pravachol with caution. Don't drive or perform other possibly unsafe tasks until you know how you react to this drug. If your symptoms don't improve or if they worsen, consult with your doctor. This drug should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Do not use less or more or take it more often than directed by your physician.
