Drug Uses
Carafate is used for treatment and prevention of ulcers. It can also be used for other conditions as advised by your doctor.
How Taken
Take Carafate as suggested by your doctor. Take Carafate on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or twp hours after a meal. Don't use an antacid for at least 30 minutes before or after taking this product. It can take 4 to 8 weeks for complete healing of your ulcer. Continue taking Carafate for the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Don't take Carafate at the same time as other medicines. Take Carafate at least two hours after other pills. If you are not sure about the best time to use Carafate, call to your doctor or pharmacist.
Additional Information
Carafate can cause dizziness. These effects can worsen if Carafate is taken with alcohol or certain other medications. Take Carafate with caution. Do not drive or perform other possibly dangerous tasks until you know how you respond to this pill. If your symptoms do not improve or if they worsen, talk to your physician. Carafate should be used only by the patient for whom it has been prescribed. Don't use less or more or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
