From 1st to 7th November 2009, the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project implemented the 3rd policy study tour in Europe. The Chinese delegation tour was led by Mr. Song Tiedong, Director-General of Environmental Information Center of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and consisted of representatives from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Ministry of Science and Technology, Energy Research Institute of the National Development and Reform Commission, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Environmental United Certification Center Co., Ltd (CEC), China Classification Society Certification Company (CCSC) and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
The delegation visited relevant key organisations in Germany and the UK. The host organisations include the headquarters of the TUV Rheinland in Cologne, the secretary of the UNFCCC in Bonn, the BSI British Standards Limited in London, the Climate Change Projects Office (CCPO) Department of Business, Innovation & Skills in London, the Environmental Change Institute of Oxford University and the Carbon Trust. The visit was considered informative and productive by the delegation members. The delegation was particularly interested in the experiences of DOE training and the low carbon economy in the UK, including climate change policies and low carbon standards.
