A workshop on verification issues took place on March 4th and 5th 2008 as part of the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project Applicant Entities training programme. This event followed the second round of workshops on DOE Validation procedures which were completed in December 2007.

The workshop introduced Chinese Applicant Entities to initial and periodical UN Verification Procedures. Participants attended presentations on guidelines on UN verification requirements; the certification process; verification according to ISO 140641 and selected GHG programmes. A number of illustrative case studies were also discussed at the workshop.

The final stage of the capacity building programme will be short traineeships for selected staff of DOE Applicants at, consortium partners, TÜV Rheinland Group headquarters in Cologne, Germany.
