On November 12th 2007, the EU-China CDM Facilitation Project completed the first regional CDM workshop in Kunming, Yunnan, with the support from Yunnan CDM Technical Service Center. The workshop focused on the current situation in China for CDM and its future developments, CDM methodologies and their applicability in Yunnan and CDM project implementation best practices.
More than 100 local government officials, Yunnan CDM Technical Service Centre staff, CDM project owners and developers attended. Ren Yong, Deputy Director General of the Policy Research Center for Environment and Economy (PRCEE) of MEP, Li Liyan, Deputy Director General of the Climate Office of National Development and Reform Commission, and Li Shujie, Deputy Director General of Yunnan Provincial Science & Technology Department presented at the workshop.
The Yunnan workshop is the first of a series of 10 regional workshops aimed at local Stakeholders and aims to provide training and knowledge sharing on different aspects of CDM. The next regional CDM workshop will be held in Wuhan, Hubei Province on March 3rd 2008.
